When I was a kid I used to sit and watch my grandmother, her sisters, my aunts and my mom sit around a quilting frame, while they worked together to hand quilt whatever project they had going on. I was always in awe of their dedication and attention to details. The stories I would hear while they sat and worked were always quite fascinating.
Growing up I always had a fascination with optical illusions and psychedelia. The more something tricked your eye, or made you feel dizzy or some sort of actual physical reaction, the more I loved it.
I feel like I teeter between being right brained and being left brained. In college I studied physics, eventually getting a degree in mathematics. I always had one foot stuck in the creative world. It turns out that math and quilting actually go firmly hand in hand.
Thanks for coming to see my work. I hope you find it interesting.
